The Point: Darrin was nominated for the WTIA’s Technology Innovator of the Year Award, and this post needed to drum up votes for him (he won!) I went through several versions of this, starting with interviewing Darrin for details about his history and background, and came back with a very long article which needed drastic whittling down. The man’s done a lot in his life.

The Point: The title, Keep Austin Awesome, plays off of Austin’s motto “Keep Austin Weird”, combining it with our own oft-stated awesomeness. Plus the post is a call for votes. We didn’t win, but Flickr did and we like to think we make Flickr that much more awesome.
