Brighten Up Your Black Friday

The Point: To wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, remind people of the Thanksgiving and Holiday related content on the site, and announce Picnik’s participation in the big party downtown to light the Christmas tree in the main shopping square. While I was at it, I thought I’d throw in an entertaining line contributing something interesting to the post about the origins of “Black Friday”.

Row on Row

The Point: It’s always tricky celebrating a solemn day, and Veteran’s Day is a perfect example: We have furniture sales, the rest of the western world lays wreathes. In an online world so dominated by the American view of things, this can sometimes lead to a little tut-tutting overseas. Given the subject of the post, and even though the Flickr contest posts were still being published under the designer’s name, I published this one under my own name.

Canadians Fall Into Campaign Season

The Point: Announce the addition of new Fall shapes as well as Canadian-themed shapes in time for their Federal Election, while making a joke that, while we in this country had been in the throes of an election campaign for over a year, they were getting theirs done in just thirty-seven days. It still makes me laugh.

Because No Campaign Is Complete Without Picnik Buttons!

The Point: Neatly dodging any impulse to take sides while still addressing the issue gripping the nation, this post offers those people in the grips of a very tense national mood the essential tools they need to get through to election day: Buttons! Also makes light of the whole crazy time.
